Adam Goldberg is a partner in Pillsbury’s Litigation practice with a focus on white collar and corporate investigations, U.S. regulatory compliance and cross-border disputes involving high-risk jurisdictions, including in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
Adam advises clients in a wide variety of disputes and investigations, including international and government investigations, international arbitrations, securities litigation and counseling on the regulatory aspects of business transactions. He also represents clients in complex business and intellectual property disputes and has litigated at both the trial court and appellate court levels.
Representative Experience
- Represented a China-based U.S. issuer in development of global FCPA and sanctions compliance program, including for high-risk mergers and acquisitions and in the compliance aspects of M&A transactions involving targets across Asia, Russia, Latin America and the Middle East.
- Represented a global private equity firm in billions of dollars of portfolio company investments in Greater China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, including the conducting of anti-corruption, sanctions, AML, export controls due diligence, the forensic testing of target company financial records, the drafting and negotiating of transaction agreements, and the development, implementation and oversight of post-close internal controls.
- Represented a Korean telecom company in connection with SEC enforcement action relating to alleged FCPA violations.

- Represented a senior Hong Kong-based bank executive in a DOJ and SEC criminal investigation relating to allegations of FCPA violations in China.
- Represented a senior Hong Kong-based telecom executive in an HKICAC investigation relating to allegations of corruption.
- Represented underwriters, U.S. issuers and HK issuers in connection with IPO-related compliance due diligence, as well as anti-corruption, sanctions and litigation-related disclosures in public filings.
- Represented numerous Asia-based U.S. issuers in connection with inquiries from FINRA and other U.S. regulators relating to allegations of insider trading.
- Litigation and Arbitration
- Represented Alibaba in multiforum U.S. litigations concerning its historic $25 billion New York Stock Exchange initial public offering.
- Represented Qudian, Inc. in securities class action alleging false and misleading statements in connection with IPO.
- Represented 500.com and certain executives in securities class action litigation arising from the temporary national suspension in China of online purchase orders for lottery products.
- Represented GDS Holdings in securities class action relating to company disclosures.
- Represented a London-based private equity firm in a confidential HKIAC arbitration relating to dispute among joint venture partners involving a nationwide Chinese restaurant chain.
- Represented a Hong Kong-based private equity firm in a confidential ICC arbitration to resolve a shareholding dispute.
Represented a global private equity firm in multiple confidential HKIAC and CIETAC arbitrations relating to commercial disputes arising from investments in Greater China.
